What it does
Live VIES check
Valid or invalid, plus company name and address (where the member state shares them). Format errors are caught up front and never cost a check.
24-hour cache
Repeat checks are served from cache: fast and stable. If VIES is unreachable you get the last known result (max. 7 days old) with a clear warning.
VIES outage? Clear advice
No false "invalid" during outages. You get 503 service_unavailable with advice, and that check is not charged.
Batch, rates and IBAN
Up to 50 numbers per call. Free extras: VAT rates for all 27 EU countries and an IBAN checksum check.

FAQ
Where does the data come from?
From VIES (VAT Information Exchange System) of the European Commission, which asks the tax authority of the member state. Some countries (e.g. Germany) do not return name or address.
What counts as a check?
Every lookup that produces a result (valid or invalid, including cache hits). Format errors and VIES outages are not counted.
Is a check legal proof?
No. The result reflects what VIES returned at that moment. Keep your own record of when you checked. See the terms.
